Cumberland Retreat is a beautiful resort-style home in Windsor providing weekend holidays for people with a disability, their families and carers.

Cumberland Retreat has been called “the Bali Palace!”

Decorated in tropical Balinese style, with beautiful décor and artefacts from Bali, luxurious rooms and furniture, large living areas, wrap around balconies with views over the lovely pool and local countryside, and a home theatre – it has an unsurpassed aura of peace and tranquillity.

A warm welcome

As soon as our guests step into the Retreat they feel they are “on holidays”!

Guests arrive on Friday afternoon and receive a warm welcome from our friendly, kind and well-qualified House Parents Wil and Rike Trappe.

There are two fun-filled days of activities, friendship and great food until departure on Sunday afternoon.

Wil and Rike prepare delicious, nutritious meals for guests over the weekend, co-ordinate the social and recreational activities and look after our guests, providing 24 hour on-site supervision and support for the entire weekend.

Our fantastic house parents are very special people who have that wonderful ability to develop rapport quickly with people. They are well liked by all guests  - including the family and carers groups -  who can rest easy for the weekend, knowing that their adult sons and daughters are being well cared for.

Over the last two years, some 500 guests have enjoyed weekend holidays at the “resort”, being looked after by our fabulous House Parents, and joining in fun activities.   Many of our guests are regulars!

Carers and Family Weekends

Cumberland Retreat also provides Weekend Breaks for Carers, and Family Weekend Holidays for families with children with a disability.

Cumberland Industries

Cumberland Industries Limited established Cumberland Retreat in 2007 to provide weekend holidays for employees with a disability, and people with a disability, their families and carers in the wider community.
